Welcome back to The Nomadic Notepad! If you’ve been dreaming of a romantic escape that combines luxury, adventure, and breathtaking natural beauty, let us introduce you to the Hanging Gardens of Bali. Nestled in the lush jungles of Ubud, this iconic resort is the epitome of tranquility and indulgence. With its world-famous infinity pool, luxurious accommodations, and proximity to some of Bali’s most fascinating cultural experiences, this is the ultimate destination for couples, honeymoons, or even a fairytale destination wedding.
A Luxurious Romantic Getaway
Our kid-free getaway was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the incredibly hospitable staff welcomed us with warm smiles and exceptional service. Every detail was carefully curated to make our stay unforgettable, from the personalized touches in our villa to the thoughtful recommendations for local experiences.
Our private villa, complete with its own infinity pool overlooking the jungle, felt like a slice of heaven. Imagine starting your morning with a refreshing swim as the sun rises over the treetops or enjoying a candlelit dip under a star-filled sky. The resort’s iconic two-tiered infinity pool, one of the most photographed on Instagram, was just as stunning in person as it is in pictures—a must-experience for anyone visiting.
Local Adventures and Cultural Immersion
While the Hanging Gardens itself feels like a world away, its location in Ubud makes it a perfect base for exploring some of Bali’s most iconic attractions:
Monkey Forest Sanctuary: We couldn’t resist visiting the famous sanctuary, where playful monkeys roam freely among ancient temples. It’s a lively, unforgettable experience that’s just a short drive from the resort.
Tegallalang Rice Terraces: These stunning terrace rice fields are a must-see in Bali. The views are mesmerizing, and the sense of peace you feel wandering through them is unmatched.
Meeting the Medicine Man: A highlight of our trip was meeting Nyoman, the son of Ketut Liyer, the legendary medicine man from Eat, Pray, Love. His wisdom and insights made for a deeply spiritual and transformative experience.
Alam Sari for Luwak Coffee: Coffee lovers, this one’s for you! We learned all about the process of making Luwak coffee, one of the rarest and most unique coffees in the world. Sipping a fresh cup with views of the jungle was an experience we’ll never forget.
Batik and Jewelry Making: We visited a local Batik factory and a jewelry-making workshop, where we watched skilled artisans create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces. It was an inspiring glimpse into Bali’s rich artistic traditions.
Legong Dance at Ubud Royal Palace: In the evening, we attended a mesmerizing Legong dance performance at the Ubud Royal Palace. The vibrant costumes, intricate movements, and hauntingly beautiful music transported us into the heart of Balinese culture.
Dining, Wellness, and Romance
The gourmet dining at Hanging Gardens was spectacular. Every meal was a culinary journey, blending local Balinese flavors with international cuisine. For a truly romantic experience, we recommend a candlelit dinner under the stars with the jungle as your backdrop— however we did a lot of room service and skinny dipping in our private pool!
The spa offerings here are truly indulgent, with a range of luxurious treatments designed to rejuvenate the body and mind. While we didn’t get a massage during our visit, the serene spa environment and variety of wellness options—like traditional Balinese therapies and nature-inspired treatments—looked absolutely inviting. Whether it’s a couples’ treatment or simply some time to yourself, the spa is the perfect place to relax and immerse yourself in tranquility.
Perfect for Couples and Special Occasions
Whether you’re planning a honeymoon**, a destination wedding, or just a romantic escape, the Hanging Gardens of Bali offers a level of romance and exclusivity that’s unmatched. Every moment, from the peaceful garden strolls to the luxurious villa experiences, feels crafted for love and connection.
Final Thoughts: Heaven on Earth
Our 2016 visit to the Hanging Gardens of Bali left such a lasting impression that we can’t wait to return. This place truly is heaven on earth, where every detail—from the luxurious accommodations to the warm hospitality—exceeds expectations.
