Anthony Geary, the Emmy-winning actor best known for his decades-long portrayal of Luke Spencer on "General Hospital," has died. He was 78.
Geary died Sunday, Dec. 14, following complications from an operation three days earlier, TV Insider reported. His husband, Claudio Gama, confirmed the death in a statement to the outlet.
“It was a shock for me and our families and our friends,” Gama said. “For more than 30 years, Tony has been my friend, my companion, my husband.”
Geary is most well known for playing Luke Spencer, one of the starring doctors on ABC’s "General Hospital." When he debuted as the character in 1978, Geary created one of the most iconic characters in daytime television history.
