For nearly a century, the Indiana Theater has stood on Main Street in Washington, Indiana—surviving fire, closure, and the rise of corporate megaplexes.
Built in 1926 on the ashes of the Grand Theater, this small-town movie house became more than a place to watch films. It was where first dates happened, where kids grew up, and where a community gathered shoulder to shoulder in the dark. When changing times and national theater chains threatened its future, local caretakers stepped in to keep the lights on and the marquee glowing.
