DOTr Allocates P265M for Modern Magallanes Busway Station and Upgrades

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced a P265 million allocation for the construction and enhancement of key busway infrastructure in Cubao, Magallanes, and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

A centerpiece of this project is the new modern Magallanes Busway Station Concourse, to be located near the MRT Magallanes Station . The updated design features two elevated walkways equipped with escalators and elevators to ensure accessibility.

The DOTr is currently inviting bidders for the design and build procurement of these facilities, with an approved budget of P264.86 million. Completion is targeted for February or March 2026.

This initiative is part of the broader EDSA Busway Project—a collaboration between the DOTr, DPWH, and MMDA—aimed at improving mass transit efficiency and safety. Concurrently, the agency has begun bidding for the P252.8 million Phase 1 rehabilitation of the Monumento, Bagong Barrio, North Avenue, and Guadalupe stations.

The department has also clarified its privatization strategy: plans to privatize the system's Operations and Maintenance (O&M) have been suspended until all station rehabilitations are complete.
