📍 Hike Info – String Lake to Hidden Falls, Grand Teton National Park
Trailhead: String Lake Parking Lot
Distance: ~4.5 miles round trip
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Elevation Gain: About 450 feet
Time: 2–3 hours depending on pace
Highlights: String Lake shoreline, Jenny Lake views, Hidden Falls (100-foot waterfall)
Trail Surface: Well-maintained dirt path, some rocky sections
Best Season: Late spring through fall
Wildlife: Moose, deer, black bears (bear spray recommended)
Tips:
Start early for fewer crowds
Bring water, snacks, and good hiking shoes
Parking fills up quickly at String Lake in summer
This is one of the most popular hikes in the park because it combines lakes, forest, mountain views, and a stunning waterfall—all in a manageable distance.

1. Emily Stevens Park / Snake River Levee Trail
• Location: East of Jackson near town.
• Features: Wide gravel path (≈3 miles) with off-leash freedom and riverside access.
• Great for exercise and scenic views of the Tetons.
2. Cache Creek & Game Creek Trails
• Location: East Jackson, near Snow King.
• Difficulty: Varies from easy to strenuous.
• Leash required initially (especially near trailhead), voice control allowed later.
• Offers wooded and open areas, meadows, wildlife viewing, and stream access.
3. Ski Lake (Phillips Canyon Trail)
• Round-trip: ~4 miles.
• Highlights: Aspen groves, mountain meadows, alpine lake ideal for swimming.
• Dogs allowed year-round; winter visits may require snow gear.
4. Slide Lake (Gros Ventre Wilderness access)
• Highlights: Short hike (~0.9 miles) with water access and scenery. Dogs can swim and explore freely.
• Beyond the lake, the Gros Ventre Wilderness offers extensive off-trail and trail access for pets.
5. Goodwin Lake / Jackson Peak and Other East Jackson Trails
• Goodwin Lake Trail: Scenic forest and sagebrush trail, dog-friendly (leash).
• Josie’s Ridge Trail: A more strenuous but rewarding hike with great views.
• Jackson Peak & Table Mountain: Longer, challenging hikes with alpine scenery beyond town on Curtis Canyon Road.
Free Dispersed Camping Areas Around Grand Teton that are RV friendly
1. Spread Creek Dispersed Camping – Bridger-Teton NF
• Access: Good gravel road; doable for most RVs & travel trailers.
• Notes: Designated numbered sites, some near the creek. Level parking. Popular and fills quickly.
• Stay Limit: 5 days.
• Distance to Park: ~10–15 minutes to Moran Entrance.

• Access: Graded dirt road; RV-friendly. Some tight turns but manageable.
• Notes: Big open sites with epic Teton views. No shade. Can be windy.
