Nationally, 1 in 29 schoolchildren has experienced a bereavement - that’s one on every classroom. More, heart-breakingly still, for 1 in 20 it’s mum or dad who has died. That’s why we’ve been getting alongside local schools, helping them become more compassionate places for these young hearts and minds.
The training we provide helps staff identify children affected by bereavement and develop policies that ensure these youngsters feel heard, understood and supported in the place where they learn. Compassionate Schools are a vital part of the Compassionate City Plymouth, showcasing great strides being made to make our city an even better place to live, study and work.
