Hello friends! I am jamming the Nanigo rhythm on the drum set. The Nanigo originated in the Yoruba tribes of Nigeria and it was influenced by Cuban culture after being brought to Cuba from Africa during the years of African-Cuban slave trade.
The Nanigo is a 6/8 Afro-Cuban rhythm. It is typically played on a Conga drum, has been adopted for the bongo or Djembe drum, and finally for the drum set. When I play it, I think and feel more like a percussionist than a drum set player. I hope you enjoy it!
