Budget 2026: Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Kerala, Andhra To Get Dedicated Rare Earth Corridors: FM Sitharaman

Описание: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her ninth consecutive Union Budget 2026 speech, announced a series of initiatives to strengthen India’s strategic manufacturing and healthcare ecosystem. She said the Centre will support mineral-rich states—Odisha, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu—in setting up dedicated rare earth corridors to boost mining, processing, research and manufacturing, building on the rare earth permanent magnet scheme launched in November 2025. To reduce import dependence, three dedicated chemical parks will also be developed through a cluster-based plug-and-play model. Additionally, Sitharaman proposed the ₹10,000-crore Biopharma Shakti programme to position India as a global biopharma hub, strengthen regulatory systems, expand NIPERs, clinical trial sites, and launch ISM 2.0 to enhance indigenous technology, equipment production and skilled workforce development.
