Congress accused ZPM and MNF leaders of 'Kawngzawh Pui'

ZALEN January 30, 2026: Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Wednesday called for a 'Kawngzawh pui' from Chanmari to Vanapa Hall to protest against the Central Government's plan to abolish MGNREGA they are asked.

Lalmalsawma said, "MNREGS is a beneficial scheme for rural people and the reliance of many families. Central BJP government's decision to end it is painful. This will affect not only India but also Mizoram's rural poor I don't want to say that.

The participants passed 3 resolutions, namely :-

1. MPCC condemns the BJP Government's replacement of MGNREGA (100 days employment) with G-RAM-G as an attempt to defame Mahatma Gandhi. Mizoram Government's 10% share of the State Government's contribution will not be implemented unless the State Government is able to provide it.

MGNREGA (less than 100 days employment) was a right (guaranteed) of the people. G-RAM-G, on the other hand, is a budget-based scheme that is not safe for the public. Therefore, ZPM Government is required to pressure the Central Government to restore MGNREGA as soon as possible.

2. There is a huge corruption in the sale and purchase of land near Lengpui Airport. Mizoram Government should announce the truth as soon as possible as it is the right of the people to know the truth. ZPM and MNF party leaders are required to announce as soon as possible whether any of their party leaders have been arrested.

3. Congress Party strongly condemns the increase in discrimination against Christians in India since the BJP and its allies came to power. We demand the BJP Government to immediately stop the discrimination against Christians as we are a religious freedom country. We demand the Mizoram Chief Minister to act for the sake of Christians like other Christian Chief Ministers.

Road construction funds used properly - PWD Minister

PWD minister Vanlalhlana said that the government's funds for road construction are being used properly.

The Minister inspected the construction of Leitan-Sihphir road on Tuesday. Leitan-Sihphir road construction works will be completed along with Zuangtui-Selesih road construction works.

Vanlalhlana said that the government's funds for road construction are being used properly and sustainably. He said that the Joint Action Committee's responsibility to monitor the construction of Leitan-Sihphir road is commendable.
