Описание: This is a cab view of the Hakone Tozan Railway, which connects Odawara Station and Gora Station for 15.0km. This video covers the area from Hakone Yumoto Station to Goura Station.

TOZAN means mountain climbing. This line is one of Japan's most famous mountain lines, with a steep slope starting from Hakone-Yumoto Station at an altitude of 96 meters, and the final station, Goura Station, at an altitude of 541 meters. The steepest slope is 80‰ (0.8%), which is the steepest in Japan, with the exception of the Abt type railway on the Oigawa Railway in Shizuoka Prefecture.

The starting point, Hakone Yumoto Station, is a tourist destination with hot springs. Odakyu Electric Railway's limited express also runs to this station, and this train's final stop is Hakone Yumoto Station. Turn around to the east, in the opposite direction to the Hakone Tozan Railway.

There are many other hot springs along the Hakone Tozan Railway, which are visited by tourists from all over the world all year round. It is a tourist destination that represents Japan.

The train climbs slowly at a speed of 20km/h on a route with a maximum curve of 80‰ and a minimum curve radius of 30m. This line has a sister relationship with Switzerland's Rhaetian Bahn, and there are signs erected here and there to indicate this fact.

The Hakone Tozan Railway tracks continue into the mountains. Japan's mountains are covered with plants, so you can't see the sheer cliffs from the front view, but here and there you can see a series of mountains on the other side of deep valleys.

This route has three switchbacks along the way. I took pictures of two trains and combined them into one as the train changed direction and continued running. Scenes where the faces of the driver and passengers are shown due to reflections of light, such as in tunnels, were omitted. Please be aware of this.

The last thing to appear is a freight train. They are dispatched when construction work is carried out at night.
