When a science vessel vanishes near Taurus II, Corwin leads a landing party mission that spirals into chaos. Stranded survivors, hostile Taurean natives, and hidden Klingon operatives turn a rescue mission into a desperate fight for survival. On the planet’s surface, Ashborne rallies the scattered crew, defends the injured, rescues captives, and uncovers a Klingon plot that threatens more than one Federation world.

But the battle doesn’t end on the ground. Klingon boarding parties strike the Daniel Boone itself, forcing Corwin to secure engineering and repel intruders to save the ship. Taking the helm for the first time since his long exile, Ashborne leads the Boone into a pitched space battle—destroying Klingon satellites, rescuing a freighter, and ultimately joining forces with the legendary U.S.S. Enterprise to defeat a D9 battlecruiser in the Murasaki nebula.
