Grocery shopping can be the MOST important thing when you are tracking macros and trying to stay lean. By having the right foods in your fridge you are setting yourself up for success.
My go-to list:
1. Rotisserie Chicken: I grab 2 from Costco every week. First its high in protein which I need, second they are delicious and third they are super easy to make quick meals with. I pull all the chicken off and throw them into containers and freeze one.
2. Cottage Cheese: there are so many ways I can use cottage cheese. Add to smoothies, make a wrap with it, add to my yogurt, eat with berries, add to sauces. Of course it's high in protein as well.
3. Eggs and Egg whites: we eat eggs for breakfast at least 3 times a week. Sometimes I even have them for a snack or use hard boiled eggs to add protein to my lunches. Eggs are super quick so if you are in a rush they are a good go to. I make egg bites, breakfast wraps and freeze them. I usually make a dozen hard boiled eggs too.
4. Protein Powder: I know I know a lot of you don't like it but it is my saviour. I always need protein and having it mixes into yogurt, cottage cheese, add to smoothies or just having a scoop on water is so beneficial for me. It's easy and it helps me get a few servings of fruits and vegetables too when I make a smoothie.
5. Fruits and Veggies: I make sure to have all my fruits and veggies cut and ready for salads and to be able to add to just about any meal. I make sure half my plate is veggie for lunch and dinner and to have fruit for my snacks. They're low in calories yet packed with essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
