Today is Indian Armed Forces Veterans Day
This day is observed every year on January 14 to honour ex-servicemen and women.
….the courageous men and women who have served the nation in uniform as part of the armed forces.....and have now 'hung-up their boots'
Armed Forces Veterans’ Day is celebrated on 14th January every year to recognise the service rendered by the First Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Field Marshal KM Cariappa, who retired on this day in 1953.
Veteran’s Day was first celebrated in 2016.
The Govt of India headed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi decided to celebrate this day to make Indians realize and recognize the contributions of ex-servicemen and women.
They may not be in uniform today…..but they have done their part.
