I’m so excited that I’m gonna see Toto live in a month and a half. So what better than to do the first track from their first album? This is a wonderful composition by David Paitch. Sometimes it’s easy to forget how much he meant to the early Toto albums with his songwriting, playing and singing.
I’ve tried to play pretty much as the original bass player David Hungate on this. He is a much better player than me, so there’s light years between us but I did my best. The bass part really adds to their song, locking in with the drums. It must have been a great experience playing with Jeff Porcaro in the studio. They don’t make ‘em like Jeff anymore.
