Vietnam Traffic Accidents: Statistics 2011-2019
Road traffic accidents are a leading cause of deaths in Vietnam.
From 2011 to 2015, Vietnam recorded 153,347 traffic accidents with 47,877 fatalities and 156,618 injuries.
Compared with 2006-2010, Vietnam recorded 17.4% fewer traffic accidents, 20.7% less fatalities and 22.16% fewer injuries.
Road traffic accidents 2016-2019:
2016: Vietnam recorded 21,500 accidents with 19,000 injuries and 8,685 fatalities;
2017: Vietnam recorded 20,000 accidents with 17,000 injuries and 8,300 fatalities;
2018: Vietnam recorded 18,720 accidents with 14,800 injuries and 8244 fatalities;
2019: Vietnam recorded 17,000 accidents with 13,600 injuries and 7,624 fatalities.
40% of road accidents in Vietnam happened because of excessive drinking, according to the World Health Organization.
New law that took effect in 2020 to show zero tolerance for alcohol while driving.
