In this video, we put the popular organic gold leaching myth to the ultimate test. We used concentrated lemon juice (citric acid), peroxide, and other organic reagents to try to recover gold from computer connector fingers (e-waste).
The Challenge: To see if this method is truly a viable, non-toxic way to extract precious metal.
The Timeline: This experiment took an astonishing 40 DAYS of observation and solution adjustments to achieve a result.
The Final Result: We successfully recovered a usable amount of unrefined gold. However, we discuss the impracticality of the extended timeline and conclude whether or not this organic method is actually useful for gold recovery.
