Newton's Second Law and Hooke's Law are combined to write down a 2nd order differential equation for harmonic motion. Solutions are linear combinations of cosine and sine with a certain period. This is converted to a first order system of differential equations. Nullclines and solutions are drawn in the phase plane. Use VectorPlot and StreamPlot in Mathematica. Also do this for a predator/prey model. https://amzn.to/3ucUVu3 (How Calculus Reveals the Secrets of the Universe).
