Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a tin of tartan paint to be able to paint tartan. All you need is a plan and a fairly steady hand. By breaking a complex design down into simple manageable steps you are able to create quite an impressive finish. Miniature painting can be difficult, but by breaking it down into easier steps, intricate finishes become much easier. In this painting tutorial I show how to paint tartan to a fairly high level but it should be achievable for a wide range of skill levels. If you can paint a line, you can paint tartan.
