Описание: The most important 20 questions of your life if you are considering retiring in Vietnam.

#retirement #vietnam #retirementplanning

The 20 Questions are;

Visa & Legal Status
1. Are you able to get the right visa to allow you to live in Vietnam?
2. Are you comfortable with a bureaucratic system that can be slow and difficult to navigate as a foreigner — for things like visa renewals, contracts, and disputes?

Housing & Property
3. Are you ok with renting? Purchasing property is just too difficult in Vietnam so will you be comfortable renting an apartment?

Climate & Lifestyle Adjustment
4. Are you comfortable with tropical heat and humidity year-round? Can you handle a rainy season that may last several months?
5. How do you feel about noise, traffic, and the general chaos of busy Asian cities? Vietnam's streets can be overwhelming even for seasoned travellers.

Hobbies & Daily Life
6. What are your current hobbies and activities? Will you be able to maintain them living in Vietnam?
7. Can you handle the driving culture? Will you be comfortable getting around by motorbike taxi, ride-share app, or hiring a private driver rather than owning and driving a car?
8. How tech-savvy are you? Daily life in Vietnam — banking, food delivery, ride-hailing, even paying bills — increasingly relies on smartphone apps, often in Vietnamese.

Food & Diet
9. Do you have food allergies or preferences? Are you a fussy eater?

Health & Medical
10. What are your medical needs? Are you ok with living in a country with no ambulance response service?

Language & Cultural Comfort
11. Are you willing to learn basic Vietnamese, or are you comfortable navigating daily life with limited local language ability?
12. Are you comfortable living as a permanent outsider? No matter how long you stay, you will always be seen as a foreigner in Vietnam.
13. How do you feel about a country with a single-party political system and restrictions on free speech and press freedom?

Social Connection
14. Do you have, or are you able to build, a social network abroad? Isolation and loneliness are real risks for retirees living far from family and friends.

Family & Relationships
15. How does your partner, spouse, or close family feel about the move? Is this a mutual decision or a source of tension?
16. How often do you plan to return home to visit family? Have you factored in the cost and physical toll of long-haul flights?

Financial Considerations
17. Is your retirement income stable and sufficient in USD or AUD terms? Are you aware that currency fluctuations can significantly impact your purchasing power?
18. Do you have a plan for banking and transferring money internationally? Vietnam has strict rules around foreign currency and banking access.

Tech & Connectivity
19. Are you comfortable with Vietnam's internet restrictions, including blocked or throttled access to certain websites and services?

Your Plan B
If things don't work out — health crisis, political change, or simply not enjoying it — do you have a clear and affordable plan to return

Whether you're a fellow Westerner considering making the move, looking to retire abroad, or just curious about the lifestyle, I've got you covered. On this channel, we dive deep into:

The Expat Life: Real costs, logistics, and what it takes to settle down here.

The Real Vietnam: The incredible local food, the culture, and honest takes on the political situations and contentious issues you won't hear about in tourist brochures.

On the Road: Join me as I jump on my bicycle or motorbike to tour the country, from bustling city streets to quiet backroads.
