For some time, this show has circulated incorrectly as having been recorded at the “Sugar Bowl.” This information is 100% incorrect. The Sugar Bowl was not a stadium, but a college football event, traditionally held in New Orleans during the early 1970s. Therefore, there is no stadium called Sugar Bowl.

This performance was actually recorded at the Charlotte Memorial Stadium as part of a major event organized by rock star Leon Russell, who at the time owned Shelter Records, the label Fred King was signed to. On this occasion, Fred King performed as the opening act for Leon Russell.

In the early 1970s, Leon Russell was at the absolute peak of his popularity, with the ability to fill large arenas and stadiums. This period coincided with a series of live recordings made with the intention of releasing a live album. In addition to the concert in Charlotte, performances were also recorded at the Long Beach Arena in Los Angeles and in Anaheim. The performance ultimately selected for release was the Long Beach Arena concert, which became the album "Leon Live". The same technical crew responsible for recording Leon Russell’s performances also recorded this Freddie King show. During Freddie’s time with Shelter Records, it was quite common for him to tour alongside Leon Russell, typically appearing as the opening act at these large-scale events.
