A remote community in South Australia's north-east could be isolated for weeks as floodwaters from western Queensland flow into Innamincka.
Roads into the town are closed, with the State Emergency Service (SES) deploying sandbags and defence cells as an inland inundation moves along the Cooper Creek and past Innamincka.
Those staying at Innamincka Station had to leave the property’s accommodation, as water has already flooded the buildings.
Authorities say other properties are at risk, but locals are thankful they’ve had time to prepare for the possibility of being isolated for months by flooded roads.
