Описание: Chicago high school basketball powerhouse Simeon faced South Side Catholic School Brother Rice in a Regional Final. Brother Rice doesn't get much attention. They weren't ranked locally and aren't loaded with talent.
But they are led by senior, All-City do-it-all guard Marquise Kennedy. The future Loyola Rambler had a breakout game vs Simeon in last season's state tournament so the Wolverines had an idea what was coming. Rice hosted the sold-out contest on the city's South Side.
Ultra versatile Kennedy finished with 27 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, three steals and two blocks but in the end, Simeon Career Academy star freshman 6-8 Andre "AJ" Casey Jr (8 points, 11 rebounds) tipped in a missed free throw just before the buzzer to lift the Wolverines to a dramatic 2-point win and another 4A Regional Championship (16 in a row unofficially).
Simeon unsigned senior Antonio Reeves scored 26 to go with 7 rebounds and star sophomore Ahamad Bynum
scored 20 for the Wolverines including 14 in the second half.
Brother Rice junior Deandre Hagan scored 18 and senior Jimmy Gavin added 15.
