Dr.B.Vijayagopal started playing flute at the tender age of 4 and gave his first flute concert at the age of 5. He has had the blessings of his gurus and other stalwarts of carnatic music guiding and supporting his journey in the field of music.

He is an AIR “A” grade artist and an empanelled member of ICCR and the recipient of Kalaimamani- Tamilnadu state government’s highest award for the field
of arts and culture. Vijayagopal is a gold medalist and University topper in the field of music and was a practising Orthodontist and dentofacial surgeon before taking up music as a full time profession

Vijayagopal has performed in festivals all over India and abroad including concert tours of USA,UK, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri lanka and the middle east. He had the privilege and fortune of performing a concert tour of Europe (Denmark and Norway). His notable performances include Sur Banaras, Kalaa Utsavam at Esplanade Singapore, Dhaka folk festival, Copenhagen world music festival, Bollywood film festival of Norway, Sydney music festival and Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana to name a few

Vijayagopal has featured prominently in stage productions and collaborative concerts of many leading luminaries from the field of music and dance like Smt.ARUNA SAIRAM, Smt.BOMBAY JAYASHRI, Danseuse SHOBANA, and has collaborated with stalwarts of hindustani music (for Jugalbandhi concerts) like Ustad. SHUJAAT KHAN , Pt.RONU MAJUMDAR, Sri.RAKESH CHAURASIA and Mrudangam legend Padma Vibhushan Sri. UMAYALPURAM SIVARAMAN in over 70 concerts.

He is arguably the most versatile musician of his time and is sought after in the field of fusion music and collaborative/ film work with the likes of Mr.AR Rahman (Oscar/ BAFTA and Grammy awardee), in many of his recent projects and other prominent music directors of the south indian film industry like Harris Jeyaraj, G.V.Prakash

He had the privilege and honour of presenting a special VVIP, invitee only flute concert hosted by the Honourable PM of India for the visiting Honourable President of Srilanka and accompanying dignitaries on November 2019
