Climbing up to dizzying heights, working through typhoons and using a chainsaw to cut down dangerous branches are all in a day’s work for Hong Kong’s “tree guardian” Jason Ma. The arboriculturist has been climbing trees for 10 years, and has a deep, lifelong love of nature that is strong enough to overcome his fear of heights. His work not only protects trees, but also potentially saves the lives of Hongkongers, since he cuts down rogue branches while cultivating and managing many of the city’s centuries-old trees.
