STORYLINE:
Thousands of protesters in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Sunday staged demonstrations following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Mostly Shiite Muslims took to the streets across the region.

At one demonstration in Srinagar, protesters were seen carrying a portrait of Khamenei.

Iranian state media reported Khamenei's death early Sunday, after a major attack launched by Israel and the United States.

U.S. President Donald Trump said hours earlier that Khamenei had been killed in the joint operation.
