I was asked to show some details of the engine compartment, as well as the trunk and interior. Again, just a rather simple unedited video.
You can see the fist video of my Mercury on this video.
• 1966 Mercury Parklane Breezeway walk aroun...
The engine is an original 410, 330 HP, 444 ft-lbs of torque, with 59K miles.
Other engines available included:
390, 265 HP, 401 ft-lbs torque
390, 275 HP, 405 ft-lbs torque
428, 345 HP, 462 ft-lbs torque
The engine compartment has not been detailed or modified. The a/c is intact and all of the vents/levers on the instrument panel work as well as the heat, however the a/c is not currently functioning.
The trunk is original and rather clean for it's age and has the original mate and cardboard sides and jack.
The interior is close to being perfect and includes the original front floor mate. All gages, AM radio, lights work. All chrome garnish molding is like new. Rear window operates perfectly and very fast. I have the vinyl paint that matches the interior to paint the kick panels, which have faded, to match the door panels - but just have not had time to do that.
I forgot to show a close up of a spinner wheel cover, but the silver blue (that I painted) between the radial chrome lines is perfect and matches the picture in the new car literature. They were more silver on the wheel covers - maybe faded or just that color, however I have seen photos of them when new including the pictures in the literature that show them to be a light bluish silver. I think that color is very attractive and blends with the blue interior.
The car is painted Polar White. It has been repainted once - I am guessing that was around 40 yrs ago or so. The car is rust and dent free. You will notice that the side trim on the C pillars is that of a 1965 Mercury. I changed them a couple of years ago because I prefer the look over the originals, which I keep in the trunk. I also installed the Cornering Lights - the original chrome panels are in the trunk also. I just completed a totally new brake job, including all brake lines and flex hoses. The brakes are great now and just like when the car was new. The car has a new gas tank, that was installed before I bought the car 17 yrs ago. I installed a new sending unit a few years ago. I had new tires "shaved" to have a slightly wider white wall, that sets off the wheels nicely. I am now considering buying a correct passenger side mirror - not cheap!
I hope you enjoy the video and that I did not forget anything.
For now - I will be cruising in my Mercury Breezeway!
