Kashi Bose Lane Durga Puja Samity is known as one of the oldest "Barowari" pujas in North Kolkata. Initiated in 1937, the committee continues to enrich Kolkata's Durga Puja till now, adding newer dimensions to this grand festival every year. It is one of the many Durga Puja celebrations that take place in Kolkata, during the Hindu festival of Durga Puja and this year Puja pandal is proudly celebrate 86 glorious years. Durga Puja is one of the most significant and widely celebrated festivals in West Bengal and other parts of India where Bengali communities reside.
Kashi Bose Lane Durga Puja, holds great cultural, religious, and social significance. It serves as a platform for artistic expression, community bonding, and showcasing Bengal's cultural heritage while celebrating the triumph of good over evil through the worship of Goddess Durga. The centrepiece of the celebration is the Durga idol, which is beautifully crafted and adorned. The idol of Goddess Durga, along with her children (Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesha, and Kartikeya), is the focal point of the puja. Alongside the religious rituals, Kashi Bose Lane Durga Puja often hosts a variety of cultural events, including music and dance performances, poetry readings, and traditional Bengali plays. These events add to the festive atmosphere and draw large crowds.
Many celebrities and VIPs visit Kashi Bose Lane during Durga Puja to seek the blessings of Durga Maa, making it a major attraction for both the crowd and the media.
