COVID-19 has had a dramatic effect on city centres, accelerating changes in how we shop and challenging conventions on how and where we work. The purpose of urban centres is being reassessed, with many in agreement that the key to vibrant city centres is a good mix of retail, leisure, work and residential provision.
In this webinar we discuss the role that residential development can play in reinvigorating Aberdeen city centre and look at some of the residential schemes being planned. We are joined by panellists Mike Naysmith from CALA, Richard Harriman from Mandale Group and David Dunne Interim Head of Planning at Aberdeen City Council.
The discussion covers:
• Challenges and opportunities for residential development in Aberdeen city centre;
• The impact of local place policy initiatives;
• Considerations for developers when repurposing buildings; and
• What lessons Aberdeen can learn from other cities.
