The Weatherford College Board of Trustees received a report on the college’s newest honor society, Phi Beta Delta, at its February meeting on Thursday.
Originally founded in 1986, Phi Beta Delta is an academic and professional society that aims to recognize the scholarly achievements of international students, as well as faculty and staff involved in international activities.
The Theta Tau Chapter at Weatherford College moved quickly following its charter approval on Sept. 11. After forming an organizational committee and adopting a constitution, the chapter held its founding induction ceremony on Dec. 9. The chapter currently has 33 members, including 23 students and 10 faculty and staff members.
To be eligible for membership, students must maintain a minimum 3.2 grade point average and be either an international student or demonstrate a strong interest in international affairs and global citizenship.
The chapter has already become a visible part of campus life, hosting a food tasting booth for International Student Day and supporting the International Student Thanksgiving feast in November. Chapter leaders plan to expand their footprint throughout the spring semester.
“This semester we’ll be focusing a lot on student outreach, which includes going to classes and speaking with students and working hand in hand with the honors program,” said Andres Rodriguez, Theta Tau Chapter president.
The chapter's spring schedule includes co-sponsoring the upcoming WC Interdisciplinary Academic Conference on Feb. 12 and supporting the WC International Piano Competition in April. Additionally, the society is partnering with the college’s EF Tours trip to Peru, providing grants to help make the travel opportunity more accessible to students.

In other business, the board:
Approved the minutes from the Jan. 15 board meeting.
Approved the financial reports ending Dec. 31.
Approved a contract quote from Pacific Office Automation for multi-function print solutions.
Approved a proposal from AT&T Enterprises LLC for a dedicated Ethernet connection.
Received written reports from Wise County, academics and a student service update.
Received a written report on the proposed 2026-27 tuition and fees. As tuition and fees are frozen by the Texas governor for the next academic year, there are no changes other than a $5 increase in test fees for the HESI A2 and CLEP tests to cover external vendor cost increases.
Approved the purchase of 1407 Sloan Street and 212 East Rentz Street.

In his President’s Report, President Tod Allen Farmer:
Congratulated WC Wise County on receiving a federal grant to install two dual-port fast charging electric vehicle charging stations.
Congratulated Kailee May, head volleyball coach, on being named the AVCA Southwest Region Coach of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Provided an enrollment update for the spring semester. As of Monday, Feb. 2, spring enrollment was 6,771 students, an increase of 11.1 percent from the previous spring semester.
