The weather forecast across South Africa today is as follows:
A cut-off low-pressure system will move towards South Africa today, setting the stage for severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, strong winds, and hail across parts of the Northern Cape, North West, Free State, and Eastern Cape, while scattered thunderstorms are also expected in and around Gauteng. The South African Weather Service has issued an Orange Level 5 warning for severe storms with flooding, damaging winds, excessive lightning, and large hail over the eastern Northern Cape, western Free State, and extreme western North West. Yellow Level 2 warnings are in place for similar storm risks over parts of Northern Cape Province, central Eastern Cape Province, and central Free State Province and North West Province, while a Yellow Level 1 warning covers western and southern KwaZulu-Natal Province. Residents in affected areas should be prepared for possible flooding and storm-related damage.
