My grandmother Nina, when she turned 100 — then 101, 102, 103, and 104 — promised she would make it to 105. Unfortunately, after the Russian–Ukrainian war began in 2022, she suffered a stroke and passed away nine months before her 105th birthday.
But in San Francisco, California, a dear friend of mine, Marti, introduced me to Lila. Through meeting her and celebrating her 105th birthday, I felt that I had finally closed this chapter — and my gestalt.
