Following 484 steam locomotive KA942 from Tauranga to Taneatua NZ in 1990.
Lots of this video are now historic
The line from Hawkens Junction to Taneatua closed in 2003
KA 942 is now in the South Island and hasn't seen the mainline in a while
The consist is a mixture of City rail and Kiwi Lager colours
Health and safety has changed a lot since then. The hanging out the side of the train and wandering around railway yard like sheep is a thing of the past.
While the railway to Kawerau remains busy, the line to Taneatua is just a memory.
