See legendary composer of much of the Odissi repertoire music, violinist Pt Bhubaneswar playing a full intro alap before Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra on mardala/pakhawaj and senior vocalist Rakhal Mohanty join in with Ratikant Mohapatra on Manjiras. Sharon Lowen performs this invocation at the NYC Metropolitan Museum as the 22nd concert of her Festival of India USa tour 1985-6.
Manikya Veena Mangalacharan opens with invocations to Lord Jagganath (jagannatha Swami), Mother Earth and the Goddess of Learning and Music, Saraswati, in her form as Matanga playing a bejeweled Veena, four armed, the crescent moon in her hair, lotus eyed, radiating benevolence, bearing weapons, with the graceful gait of the elephant followed by the Trikandi Pranam to God, Guru, and Audience.
