Leaving a void in the hearts of his loved ones, Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar left for his heavenly abode on October 29 after suffering a massive cardiac arrest. However, known for his humanitarian work, 'Appu' as he was lovingly called, even after his demise managed to remain iconic as always. He touched the lives of people even after his untimely demise as his eyes were donated. His donated eyes provided a gift of sight to four youth, who have got a second lease of life because of the late Powerstar. The recipients were three male and one female, who underwent transplant surgery in the last two days at Narayana Nethralaya. To follow the rules and protect the privacy of the patients, details of them weren’t disclosed by the hospital. An advanced technique was used and the transplant was done free of cost. According to the chairman and managing director of Narayana Nethralaya, Dr Bhujang Shetty, 'this technique is a first for the state of Karnataka wherein eyes had been donated to four people at one go. If you are wondering how that is possible, then according to reports, the cornea of each eye is sliced in half, with the front and the second portion donated to different beneficiaries.'
