Driving in Italy: Autostrada dei Giovi A7 E62 from Tortona to Genova

Описание: In this video you can drive along on Autostrada A7 from Tortona to Genova on the Ligurian coast. The A7 is one of the most peculiar motorways I have driven so far, where most of the time the alignment is so tight that a shoulder is missing.

The A7 clearly used to be a provincial road in the past and was upgraded over time to accommodate the large shares of truck traffic between the port of Genova and the economic heart of Italy in the Po valley. It's a very scenic drive through the coastal mountain range of Liguria and has very steep grades considering it's a motorway. It also has many sharp curves so a speed limit of 130 km/h is certainly no reality on this Autostrada.

Alternatively you can take the more 'modern' A26 from Alessandria to the Ligurian coast and Genova, which in our case would have been the faster option as well, but I have driven it before and I wanted to drive the A7 instead. The A26 has a straighter alignment although it's also relatively curvy for a motorway and features more tunnels. It joins the A10 Autostrada dei Fiori just West of Genova.
