Aside from painting with watercolors on paper, you can paint on watercolors with canvas.
You can prepare a canvas for painting by applying a couple of coats of absorbent ground to it. There's also QoR watercolor ground that has more texture.
Some artists paint directly on the gessoed canvas but the colors can lift a little bit when you paint over them with additional layers.
The absorbent ground helps the watercolor paint to adhere to canvas.
You can also use absorbent ground for painting on wood with watercolors. In the video I apply it to a small hardboard with a paint roller.
