The model of the S.S. Poseidon is on permanent display at the Los Angeles Maritime Museum. The model is 21.5 feet long and weighs one ton, but was designed to float. It was built by 15 men over three months using plans from the RMS Queen Mary. The model was equipped with battery-operated propellers, working smokestacks, and interior lights.
L.B. Abbott and A.D. Flowers received a Special Achievement Academy Award for this film.
