4-year-old orphaned Setsuko spends a lot of time alone as she and her brother move to an abandoned shelter by the lakeside in the backdrop of the end of WWII.
Late Isao Takahata's Grave of the Fireflies (1988) was a breakthrough movie for the now legendary 'Studio Ghibli' combining the works of both Takahata & Hayao Miyazaki. Studio Ghibli has over the years produced animated masterpieces such as 'My Neighbor Totoro', 'Only Yesterday', 'Spirited Away', 'Howl's Moving Castle' and many more, all done in traditional hand-drawn animation.
