This video shows how I conceived and created a narrative illustration from initial inspiration through the completed mixed-media painting. I begin with how I got the idea for the "story" and the process steps including thumbnail sketch, composite drawing, and then applying watercolor, gouache and finally, colored pencil to finish it up. You'll see how I apply the paint and work with the pencil to add fine details.
