Of Gibson's LG models, the LG2 was the only model that was also made during World War II. This model is distinguished by the X-bracing and sunburst finish of the LG1 and LG3 respectively. In 1946 the 'Banner' logo disappeared, and in 1948 the Gibson 'Script' logo also made way for the more modern 'Block' logo.
This smaller Gibson model falls between the J45 and Gibson's L00, making it a comfortable guitar with a very responsive and balanced sound that can be used for strumming as well as fingerstyle. In addition, this LG2 also has a large volume that it has to offer. A magical sound that has only added more character with age.
This Gibson LG2 from 1950 is still in very good condition. The guitar has playwear and weather checking that are to be expected with an instrument of this age, both on the body and neck. These traces naturally contribute to the style of the guitar, and give this LG2 its beautiful lived-in character.
The guitar has the well-known pickguard crack on the top, with a center seam crack in the lacquer on the back. Furthermore, a refret and neck reset have been carried out, and the tuners have been replaced. The guitar still has the original pickguard.
This nicely playing and good sounding Gibson LG2 comes in a hardshell case.
