According to Gordon Peabody on Facebook,
"While this is often referred to as a "dune," it is actually a coastal bank you are seeing on the lower slope. This includes stones, clay and sand, transported and compacted glacially (referred to as "consolidated sediment"). Wind has blown in sand above the coastal bank, creating a dune. This is considered post glacial, "unconsolidated sediment."
