The Central University of Gujarat (CUG), Kundhela, Vadodara, Gujarat has released the official Ph.D. Admission Notification (Phase-II) inviting online applications for multiple doctoral programmes for the academic session 2025-26 (Admission Cycle continuing for 2026). The online application process started on 30 January 2026 and the last date to apply is 10 February 2026, while the interview for eligible candidates is scheduled from 17 February 2026 onwards.
Candidates who have completed a Master’s Degree as per UGC Ph.D. Regulations 2022 are eligible to apply. Applicants with UGC-NET / CSIR-NET or other national eligibility tests can also apply as per the applicable rules. Programme-specific eligibility requires relevant postgraduate degrees such as Chemistry, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Nanoscience, German, or related disciplines depending on the chosen subject.
The application process is completely online through the SAMARTH portal, where candidates must register, fill out the application form, upload documents, and pay the required fee. The application fee is ₹1000 for General/OBC/EWS candidates (for up to two programmes), ₹500 for SC/ST/Transgender candidates, and no fee for PwD candidates. Separate applications are required for each programme beyond two choices.
The university is offering 106 total Ph.D. seats across various schools. Available subjects and seats include: Ph.D. in Applied Chemistry – 23 seats; Chemical Sciences – 21 seats; Environment and Sustainable Development – 12 seats; Life Sciences – 5 seats; Nano Science – 20 seats; Studies in Science, Technology and Innovation Policy – 17 seats; German Studies – 8 seats. Reservation is applicable as per Government of India norms, including horizontal reservation for PwD candidates.
Selected candidates will undergo document verification and interview-based admission procedures as per UGC norms.
