Some 60 kilometres north of Peshawar, Yousaf Baba’s shrine garnered enough popularity to become a frequented picnic spot. Yet, located in Prang Ghar, Mohmand Agency, the area remains quite underserved in terms of basic infrastructure and amenities.


At the confluence of Mohmand, Bajaur and Malakand, Yousuf Baba area takes its name from the Sufi saint. The guardian of the shrine, Waheed Gul—a walking jukebox of local history—says Yousuf Baba belonged to the 14th or 15th century. He believes—allowing some room for anachronism in oral history—Yousuf Baba was a pupil of Syed Kastir Gul better known as Kaka Sahib or Shaikh Rahamkar. Kaka Sahib’s grave is in Nowshera district and is said to be a contemporary of Emperor Akbar (1542-1605).

In the past, Gul says Yousuf Baba’s urs was an annual spring highlight; drawing hordes of his followers and with them some income. As militancy penetrated and attempted to rewrite local traditions, Yousuf Baba area got less foot traffic but still retained some bragging rights as a picnic spot.

“Since it is close to Charsadda, the young, the old, men and women all come to enjoy its natural beauty,” adds the caretaker.

The Dargah Yousufain also Known as Yousuf Baba Sharif Baba Dargah near Nampally Railway Station Hyderabad, Telangana State India, where two Muslim Sufi Saints named Hazrath Syed Shah Yousufuddin and Hazrath Syed Shah Sharifuddin are resting. The Two saints Hazrath Syed Shah Yousufuddin and Syed Shah Sharifuddin who were the military commanders in the Army of the last Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
That both the spiritual leaders were originally from Shaam (present-day Syria) while going performing the holy Haj, both met Hazrath Sheik Kaleemullah Jahanabadi in Makkah Shareef (Makkah-Al-Mukarramah). The Hazrath Sheik Kaleemullah Jahanabadi was a disciple of renowned Al-Qutub Sheikh Yahya Madani hailing from Madina. The Yousuf Baba Sharif Baba accepted Bayat (solemn vow of discipleship and covenant faith) of Sheikh Kaleem-ullah Jahanabadi. The Yousuf Baba Sharif Baba (Yousufain Sharifain) followed their spiritual master to Delhi instead of returning back home to Syria.
The Dome of the Dargah was constructed during the era of Nizams, The Syed Shah Yousufuddin and Syed Shah Sharifuddin were commanders in the army of Aurangazeb. The Moghal emperor according to legend, the Aurangzeb sought help of Hazrath Syed Shah Yousufuddin and Hazrath Syed Shah Sharifuddin in conquering the Kingdom of Golconda Fort. That both the Legend during the siege of Golconda Fort, the army of Aurangazeb camped around the Golconda Fort Hyderabad for months at stretch trying to take control of the fort.
That One night there was a hurricane that swept over the camped troops and blew away almost everything. Only one tent remained in which the candle was burning. When the Aurangabez arrived at the tent he saw the shadows of two men inside. Upon investigating, he found that it was the tent of two of the commanders, who were reading the Quran in candlelight and the storm blew over but did not disturb them or their surroundings.
The Hazrath Sheik Kaleemullah Jahanabadi was a Sufi-saint and all his life he spread teachings of Islam and the silsila chist. The Sufi-Saint fame is equally spread among the followers of all religions in Delhi and extends to Deccan region of India. The blessed Saint always said to make soul happy by spreading a teachings of silsila chishtia, rather than giving treasure to his family. The saint teachings were equally popular in civil society as well as armed forces (lashkar). Most of his mureeds (disciples) and Khalifa's (successors) were in army including Yousuf Baba Sharif Baba. That During the Deccan conquest by the Moghals their hidden identity was revealed to the Moghal King Aurangzeb. After they conquered Deccan they left armed forces and decided to stay in Hyderabad to propagate teaching of Islam.
The Yousuf Baba Sharif Baba were made famous by this incident and recognized as great saints. The People of all caste and creeds visit the shrine on all days. Heavy rush is witnessed here on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
