President Nandi-Ndaitwah urges youth to tap into N$257 million National Youth Fund - nbc

Описание: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on the Namibian youth to make use of the N$257 million National Youth Fund.

She made the remarks during the official opening of the 15th Eenhana Expo.

The fund is aimed at advancing youth financial positions, making it easier for them to be role players in the country's economy.

Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah therefore encouraged the youth to come up with viable projects that can uplift the country's economy.

This, the President said, will enhance the country's economy and create the much-needed job opportunities in the various economic sectors.

Expos such as these, she reiterated, are an engine of economic transformation.

"In its 15 years of existence, the Eenhana Expo has not only grown into a strategic cornerstone that accelerates local economic development but has also been instrumental in showcasing indigenous talent and fostering Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) for sustainable service delivery. Indeed, the Expo enhances access to services and goods while presenting cross-sectoral networking and collaboration."

Meanwhile, the President expressed concern about the increasing number of Namibians committing suicide, making reference to three teachers who took their lives in the Ohangwena Region.

She urged all Namibians and individuals in positions of authority to support one another with humility and kindness at all times to prevent such deaths.

Deputy Prime Minister Natangue Ithete encouraged the 285 exhibitors to continue growing their businesses and services beyond the region.

"Economic development must come from the grassroots level, from farmers with a surplus of Mahangu produce to local manufacturers, kapana sellers, and young innovators. This expo must be in the ecosystem so that we see tangible action by men and women aligning their personal aspirations to our national roads."

Ohangwena Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa emphasised the importance of sustainable businesses.

"The 2025 Expo program is rich and dynamic, focusing on the government's key priority areas of sport development, the creative arts, and youth empowerment, as well as the promotion of health and well-being. The Expo will feature exhibitions from local entrepreneurs, investment showcases, and a variety of sporting events, including soccer, netball, boxing, and marathon racing."

The expo, which kicked off on Friday, will end this coming Saturday.
