Bangkok is not a frontier port. It is a river capital ordered by monarchy, commerce, and religious structure.
Earl arrives to observe a kingdom consolidating power in mainland Southeast Asia. Hunter arrives to navigate the court procedures that determine access. Entry is not informal trade. It is controlled, hierarchical, granted by rank.
The destination has been reached.
