This is how I finish all my food-safe items (and the Mini Hammers). It’s a traditional 'Blacksmith’s Wax'—a simple blend of 100% beeswax and raw linseed oil.
How it works:
Heat the steel to a 'black heat' (approx 400°F).
Wipe on the wax.
Watch it smoke and polymerize.
It seasons the metal just like a cast iron skillet. It prevents rust, gives it that deep dark color, and is completely food safe for BBQ tools and bottle openers.
