Part 1 of this 2 part series had an error I made, but also contains a little information on scaling that I did not repeat in this video as I also have a separate video on just scaling images. The Point-to-Point scale tool is a definite improvement but still could use some touch-up as it does not reference a point of placement as the scaling tool in AutoCAD does.
Ever insert an image of a section of a building and wish you could control the transparency so you could still see your model? Well, it is not as simple as it is in AutoCAD, but it is possible, and with the assistance of Devin from Chief Architect Support, I was able to accomplish this and this video will guide you through the process.
A surprise is the ability to see these images in 3D. Since it is an image on an object, this is pretty cool, and while I do appreciate being able to directly scale PNGs in AutoCAD, had this not been object-based, it would not ALSO appear in 3D. I find this a particular advantage and thanks to Devin with Chief Architect Support, you also now can repeat this method.
See Chief Architect X16 - Create a transparent, scaled PNG image behind your model [Pt. 1 of 2] for more information on how I got this image to import in the first place. It is written in the Description for those of you that still read.
Hope this helps everyone! Happy planning and store some nuts for winter. It is April, 2025, and it looks like our industry may be about to experience another winter. Hopefully not as bad as in 2008.
