Lau Kau Mansion (Casa de Lou Kau) is one of the cultural sites which constitute the historical center of Macau which was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2005.
A Brief History of the Lou Family. Lou Wa Sio nicknamed Lou Kau (1848-1908) arrived in Macau in 1857 and first worked in a currency exchange shop. He later opened a money exchange shop called "Bou Hong Chin Hou" (Bou Hong Bank) and run the enterprise profitable.
At the same time, he obtained authorization from the government to engage in the gaming business, eventually becoming a gaming operator and a wealthy businessman.
He was regarded as a “Casino King” or first gambling tycoon of Macau in his time.
