Response to the Royalty Auto video where they use a 1/2" white nylon nut from Snap On with 13mm wrenches to intentionally skew the results. When Snap On began doing these types of tests most mechanics did not even own a set of metric wrenches. Mechanics could bring their own wrenches (which at that time were almost all SAE) onto the truck to test them against the Snap On Flank Drive and Flank Drive Plus wrenches.

There are a lot of "testing" videos out there. In this test the wrenches are used on actual 10.9 grade automotive bolts, the only test that actually matters. As the video shows the icon wrenches slip very quickly. The icon wrenches are made from inferior chrome vanadium alloy steel. Chrome vanadium was the first alloy steel and widely used 100 years ago. Around 90 years ago, Snap On and the rest of the American manufacturers stopped using it for wrenches, sockets and ratchets as far better alloy steels were invented. The icon wrenches also have much looser tolerances than the Snap On which causes them to fit loosely and be prone to slippage. The design of the Flank Drive and Flank Drive Plus wrenches depend on very tight tolerances as well as the superior proprietary alloy steel that Snap On has used since 1965 when they were asked by the United States military to develop these wrenches.
