Back in 2000, Tampa firefighters set out to breathe new life into an old, shuttered fire station by turning it into a museum and community hub. In this program, we hear from those leading the effort to make the Tampa Firefighters Museum a reality.
Todd Spear walks us through the building’s past and the renovation plans, while Les Ennis previews some of the exhibits in development. The highlight of the future collection—a fully functional 1925 Tampa fire truck—sits patiently in a neighborhood garage, waiting for the museum’s doors to open. Captain Mike Morris shares the truck’s remarkable history and why it remains such an important symbol for him and the fire department.
